Special Nepotism Policy


Unless approved by the Board of Regents, the employment of individuals at institutions under its governance who are family members of institutional presidents is prohibited. Exceptions to this policy may be permitted on an infrequent basis for reasons related to exigent operational needs of the institutions, provided that:

  1. It can be reasonably demonstrated that an operational emergency exists or is imminent; or, in those special circumstances where there is apparent or probable shortage of alternative qualified and available personnel resources in the geographic proximity of the affected institutions.
  2. An exception is otherwise reasonably warranted based upon the prevailing circumstances.
